CZECH PRODUCTS

Czech products had in the past a very good reputation all around the world. Think of the Baťa shoe company, the Skoda cars or Czech beer. But there is one more product which is not widely discussed but it used to be one of the most famous products of our country of its time. It is the slate stone of the highest quality that is mined in the Czech Republic!

In the last century there was a large mine in Bohemia where a large-scale mining and export took place. Slate was previously a recognized roofing and slate facings to this day decorate for instance the National Theatre. Moreover, this type of natural stone, thanks to the simple method of working, covers a lot of Czech roofs, the layers could tell stories about that. RomanHajabáč, the new owner of the Česká břidlice company has now decided to re-launch this famous brand, and after nearly 30 years he re-opens the natural slate mine.

Roman Hajabáč isnot worried about the world's demand. "Since the times have changed and we made a progress, there are more possibilities of using slate than before. In addition to classic wall facings and tiles, we are able to produce garden and interior decorations. In the today’s world architecture slate is becoming more and more popular in the interiors and the exteriors of buildings. Moreover, Czech slate is due to our country's location of exceptionally high quality, solid but at the same time flexible for working," says RomanHajabáčabout the material's advantages.

The indisputable characteristics of slate stone definitely include the ecological utilization which leaves no waste. "Stone mining in most cases means a burden to the environment; however, slate has the advantage of its flexible composition that allows you to create several different types of products. Even the remaining detritus and rock is used as a base in building constructions. For that reason the interest in slate keeps increasing," addsMr. Hajabáč.

Some traditional Czech brands have not been even after years forgotten by Czechs and many of them are now experiencing a glorious comeback. According to the sellers it is not only because of nostalgia but people are oversaturated with the current supply and they look for quality.
